Shortstop Christian Arroyo may still be working his way through the San Francisco Giants’ Organization but, his presence both offensively and defensively shows that his star power is something that will help the Giants win for years to come.

The twenty year old, who is ranked at number 81 in the top 100 of best prospects in baseball, has had a solid start to the 2016 with the Double-A Richmond Flying Squirrels. He is currently hitting a respectable .279 average along with two homers and 14 RBIs, and has had three games in which he has had at least three hits in each. In the last ten games he has played with Richmond, he has hit .349 with fifteen hits in forty-three at-bats with two walks and a homer.

In 2015 the Florida native hit .304 with Class-A Advanced San Jose and was named the California League Post-Season All-Star honors but, many worried that his powerful hitting wouldn’t continue with the promotion this season. Arroyo can also play second base besides shortstop which also may help in his journey to the Majors.

Arroyo spent the offseason with the Arizona Fall League where he earned a spot on the “Rising Stars” Game roster, and the All-Prospect Team at the conclusion of the fall league. With the AFL, Arroyo hit .308 in nineteen games along with an impressive three homers and 13 RBIs showing his versatility of playing against more seasoned minor leaguers and his ability to hit at a higher level of competition. The San Francisco Giants also named Arroyo their Minor League All-Star for his stellar 2015 performance.

Christian Arroyo was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the first round, 25th overall, in the 2013 MLB Draft while playing at Hernando High School in Brooksville, Florida. To add to his baseball honors, Arroyo also played for the 2013 18U Baseball World Cup with the United States’ team as they won the Gold Medal; he was also names the Most Valuable Player of the games.
