Phillies prospect Rhys Hoskins has had quite a week with the Double-A Reading Fightin Phils. Currently in the middle of a six game hitting streak, Hoskins has had eleven hits in the last ten games and four games with more than one hit. In that same ten game span he is hitting .275 and has a season batting average of .281 a .343 OBP and SLG .559.

The twenty-three year old is currently leading the Double-A Eastern League with twenty homers on the season and second among all qualified players with 61 runs batted in. He has an advanced power at the plate that will help him move through the minors faster and the right-handed hitter is also dominant against left-handed pitchers which is also something that the Phillies will find useful as they try to rebuild their squad for the future.

The 2015 season was a breakout one for the first baseman who is currently ranked as the 19th best prospect in the Phillies’ Farm System, as he hit .a combined .319 batting average splitting time between the Class-A Lakewood Claws and the Class-A Advanced Clearwater Threshers while racking up 90 RBIs and seventeen homers.

MiLB.com named Hoskins a Philadelphia Phillies Organizational All-Star after the completion of the 2015 season.

Hoskins was drafted in the fifth round of the 2014 MLB Draft while playing at Sacramento State.
