The journey through the Minor Leagues can be a tumultuous one for many and finding a steady ground both on and off the field is something that many may struggle with. For players who get bounced around different teams through an organization’s farm system, sometimes their performance can suffer but for the Baltimore Orioles’ farmhand, Garabez Rosa, who has spent time between both Double-A Bowie and Triple-A Norfolk so far this season he has continued to show his presence at the plate.
The twenty-six year old has hit .302 in the last ten games with the Bowie Baysox along with a homer and 4 RBIs and 13 total hits. Rosa, who is a versatile player, who can play not only shortstop but also second base and outfield. He has a season batting average .342 which leads the team, six homers and a team leading 39 RBIs. He had an eight game hitting streak between May 25 and July 2 which included five multi-hit games.
The Dominican Republic native has split time between Bowie and the Triple-A Norfolk Tides which leads his season average combined between both teams with a .315 batting average, seven homers and 42 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. Towards the beginning of the season he was making the jump between both teams and has been continuously with Bowie since May 23.
Last season with Double-A Bowie, Rosa hit .253 with 35 RBIs and 4 homers, showing that he has gained consistency and power at the plate since last season which makes his stock as a prospect even higher.
Rosa was signed by the Baltimore Orioles as a non-drafted free agent on November 2, 2006 at just seventeen years old.
